After Rebecca and Eliot Lonardo were married last July, they tried to maintain separate checking accounts and divvy up the bills between them. But within a few months the Huntington Station couple realized they'd have to give up their independent ways and merge their finances. "It's hard to budget your money when two people are doing their own things," said Rebecca Lonardo, 25, a grants manager for an academic research administration company. "We weren't really on the same page when we had separate accounts. Now it's a lot easier to plan at the end of the month." .
Stocks sound retreat for fourth day
Stocks slumped for a fourth straight session Monday, as investors eyed a $45 billion deal in utilities, but nonetheless opted to bail out of a variety of sectors. Energy goods production fell 3.4% on the month and 8.9% on the year. Maryland House passes bill for state takeover of Dimensions hospital system
Even as Prince George's County officials near plans to announce a buyer for the ailing Dimensions Healthcare System, state officials have pushed forward a bill that would take much of the decision out of the county's hands. The House of Delegates unanimously passed a bill Friday morning that creates a hospital authority, a state-appointed entity that would manage the hospital system, acquire its facilities and transfer its ownership to another buyer. .
